The newest iPhone application is the ikotel–an app that allows the user to visit the Kotel wherever he or she may be. Just download it onto your iPhone and you can see a live feed of what’s happening at the Kotel (except on Shabbat), write a note to be put in between the cracks of the Kotel, and it even uses the iPhone’s GPS to give you a direction to pray in so that you’re always facing the Kotel (and Jerusalem).
The application was put out by the Western Wall Heritage Foundation and is available for free in 3 languages: English, Hebrew, and Russian.
It certainly isn’t the same as a visit to the Kotel, but it’s certainly one more way to bring the world to your fingertips.
